Description

During the Age of Extravagance (1660-1714). Bathing at home was by no means an option for everyone. Soap Washballs(correct spelling), although popular, were used primarily for hand washing. Abdeker's Library of the Toilet (1754) lists many products that would have been available to purchase at well-stocked chemists, & Soap Washballs were included. Those who did not or could not bathe at home might have freshened up with sponges soaked in perfume. For some, perfume replaced bathing altogether. Soap Washballs also became very popular. They would have resembled my current Soap Washball shape, envisioned. There is an unfortunate misconception that people in the seventeenth & eighteenth centuries did not bathe. While it is true that full immersion was less common than it is today, people washed fairly regularly & business in bathing products thrived. Striving for zero waste in my shop, is a gain to your bathroom & kitchen rustic decor. Soap balls are convenient for travel & kid-hand cleaning fun. Bring a touch of the seventeenth century into your bath, & hand washing rituals. The following unscented soap balls are made on a regular basis from my available soap stock of soaps. This list is only to give you an image of what kind of unscented soap balls you can expect. Your order will be processed according to the Soap Washball stock available.
