Description
The Outer Banks is a string of peninsulas & barrier islands separating the Atlantic Ocean from mainland North Carolina. Before bridges were built in the 1930s, the only form of transport between or off the islands was by boat, which allowed for the islands to stay isolated from much of the rest of the mainland. This helped to preserve the maritime culture & the distinctive Outer Banks brogue, which sounds more like an English accent than it does an American accent. Hand-drawn & printed on an old-fashioned letterpress to look like an authentic artifact, each piece is tinted with watercolor. Printed in light brown ink on beautiful Crane's lettra 100% cotton archival 11 x 17" paper. Also available in light blue. Sold unframed, but easy to frame. SHIPPING This map will be carefully packed in a cellophane sleeve, nestled between two pieces of sturdy cardboard, & shipped in a firm flat mailer.
