This item is going to go down in history as one of the most exceptional finds yet I have snagged a vintage, RARE La Maitrise GL, Porcelain plate with amazing subject matter. You will have to look hard & long to find another. A La Maitrise GL, Space themed plate featuring two Astronaut type men floating through space with stars & planets floating around them. The colors are amazing, all primary colors, red, yellow, green, purple, black, green, on a white background. Measuring: 9 1/4" diameter, the condition "excellent", not a darn thing wrong. Marked on back in script "La Maitrise, GL". La Maitrise was the department for decorative arts at the Galeries Lafayette (GL), a high-end luxury department that was founded in 1912 in Paris, France. The majority of hand decorated porcelain plates of this style that were sold through La Maitrise date to the 1950's. This space themed piece is highly collectible, you won't find these just laying around. The signature on front "Elie" is an unknown ceramic decorator.
