This Modern Hand Crafted Sterling Silver Necklace was fabricated in my studio using the finest materials, & includes some of the finest Battle Mountain Intense Blue turquoise spiderweb with pyrite that this mine ever produced. The color is indescribable. It is Fabricated in a contemporary rectangle design using high quality Sterling Silver & a .999 fine Silver Bezel. The Rolo chain is sterling silver, made in the USA, & has a link size of 2.5 mm with a lobster clasp. The overall length of the necklace including the setting is 19 1/4". The setting measures approximately 1 7/16" wide (36.5 mm) by, 1/2" high (13.3 mm). The total weight including chain is 7.1 grams. The stone measures approximately 28.6mm (1 1/8"), by 6.6mm (1/4+") tall. This is truly a custom one of a kind necklace just breathtaking in person. The Blue Gem Turquoise Mine was located in the Copper Basin area southwest of Battle Mountain, Nevada, USA. Production of this turquoise mine started about 1934 & continued until the 1970's. Blue Gem Turquoise is still some of the finest turquoise ever found, & unlike most turquoise mines, (in which the majority mined is chalky & only usable if stabilized) most of the turquoise found there was of gem-quality. There is a distinctive aqua color that some people associate with Blue Gem turquoise, although it produced a great variety of colors, especially when intense blue was combined with deep green in one stone. Very little large material ever came out of the Blue Gem Turquoise Mine, the majority found was small 1mm - 4mm "feeder" veins. Thus the reason for the light backing. I've tried my best to catch the intense blue in my photographs, but this turquoise is difficult to photograph. It is the finest turquoise blue I have ever worked with. It far surpasses sleeping beauty in color & hardness. Following numerous requests from those of you that do not have a jeweler.
