Prince of the Lilies Sterling Silver Pendant-Inspired by Fresco from The Palace of Knossos-Minoan Art-Crete-Ancient Greece The Prince of the Lilies or The "Featherd" prince fresco is one of the well-known Minoan frescoes & is believed to represent a Minoan priest-king. It was reconstructed from the fragments retrieved from the archaeological site at Knossos on the island of Crete in Greece. The Minoan civilization was a Bronze Age Aegean civilization on the island of Crete & other Aegean Islands, whose earliest beginnings were from c. 3500 BC, with the complex urban civilization beginning around 2000 BC, & then declining from c. 1450 BC until it ended around 1100 BC, during the early Greek Dark Ages. It represents the first advanced civilization in Europe, leaving behind several massive building complexes, & sophisticated art, & writing systems. Its economy benefited from a network of trade around much of the Mediterranean. The civilization was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century through the work of British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans. The name "Minoan" derives from the mythical King Minos & was coined by Evans, who identified the site at Knossos with the labyrinth of the Minotaur. The Minoan civilization has been described as the earliest in Europe, & historian Will Durant called the Minoans "the first link in the European chain". The Minoans built large & elaborate palaces up to four stories high, featuring elaborate plumbing systems & decorated with frescoes. The largest Minoan palace is that of Knossos, followed by Phaistos. This pendant is handcrafted with extra care in 925 Sterling Silver. It's Handmade in Greece, its height size is 20mm & weighs approximately 3 g. This pendant is without the chain.
