This lovely almost six carat boulder opal from Australia was listed in my shop for a long time but didn't find a happy home. Perhaps it was the photographs. Anyway, this is how I envisioned setting it, so I just went ahead. The opal has a semi halo along the straight side, populated with 1.2mm hauyne, all pave set. The top is accented with two paraiba tourmalines from Brazil, 5x2.5mm & 3.5x2mm. With the bail the pendant is 30mm long (so one & quarter inch) in total. The design is made in 18kt yellow gold, fully made in CAD with a simple wire frame holding the opal & two little bezels (with millgrain) safely protecting the paraiba. The result: another unicorn, made with rare gems pretty much only available here.
