Here is a replica of a 20 dollar Gold Coin reportedly issued by CSA. The idea was proposed in 1861 for the coin to be struck at the mint in New Orleans. It was a rumor some coins were struck but there is no evidence to support the stories. What makes this one stand out is the nice detail (a good strike) & it appears to be older. Pictured on the front of the coin is Lady Liberty seated with the Con. States shield in her left hand. in her right hand is the flag of freedom & to her immediate right is a sugar hogshead, a bale of cotton & a bale of tobacco. Behind Lady Liberty is a field of sugar cane & also a field of cotton & tobacco growing in various stages. The Southern States were mainly agricultural.
