This is an 11 inch, Left Hand Throw, youth baseball/softball glove. Cooper Brand, labled "Soft tanned steer hide, top grain American Hide, Super-flex pocket." The autograph / signature of George Perles is written in ballpoint pen, near the Cooper Insignia on the thumb. This signature has been compared to images online (a signed football helmet, signed baseball, signed photo, & his signed book) & it most certainly appears to be a match. Notably, he always abbreviates his first name as "Geo." George Perles was the Assistant head Coach for the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers from 1972 - 1982. He was also the head football coach at Michigan State University from 1983 - 1994. He was later elected to the MSU Board of Trustees in 2006. Perles died January 7, 2020 at age 85. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Superbowl in 1974. During Perles' ten year leadership, the Steelers won a then-record four Superbowls, & became known as the "Team of the Decade" for the 1970's. How his famous & rare signature ended up on this youth baseball glove is anybody's guess. Little did he know that his act of kindness for a young friend would become a one-of-a-kind piece of nostalgia. Item will ship boxed.
