Description

Civil War Patriotic Ribbon Georga Washington Abraham Lincoln Time to show your patriotism!! We have digitally reproduced an original Pro-Union patriotic ribbon that was worn during the American Civil War. Perfect for reenactors to wear to the upcoming early war events. Can be worn with a a red, white & blue cockade, pinned to a top hat or bonnet, or worn with a red or blue ribbon. This is a one of a kind ribbon that you will NOT see sold elsewhere. This ribbon is a bit larger than most & measures 8" long by 3 1/8" wide. From Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Vol. 23, June - November, 1861: "The passengers in the streets wear badges, rosettes, & cockades of the trinity of patriotic colors. in shawls, in cravats, in ribbons, the same tricolor appears. . . You feel something in men's motions; you see 'something in the general manner of the throng in the street before you read it recorded upon the board or in the paper. There is but one thought & one question. The people are soldiers. The country is a camp. It is war." I first came across references to patriotic cockades & ribbons while researching my book, "Cadet Gray & Butternut Brown", & have since done more extensive research on the subject, & have given presentations on the same. Ribbon measures 5" long x 2" in width.
