A nice early studio pottery vase made by well known Tacoma Washington potter Kenneth D. Stevens MFA, PhD. Ken Stevens directed the ceramics department at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in the mid 1970's taking over after F Carlton Ball's departure. His ceramic students included well known northwest potters Reid Ozaki & Richard Mahaffey. This hand thrown flaring bottle form vase has a natural speckled golden brown glaze with dark brown highlights seen around the rim, neck & base edge. A touch of blue is seen inside the rim. It measures 6" tall by 4.5" wide. The base is signed Ken Stevens 1971. The condition is nice & original on this early Northwest studio pottery vase.
