Made to the exact standard introduced by the state of Nebraska in 1951 when US highway 26 was extended along the old trail all the way to Oregon. The sign features a Conestoga wagon being pulled by a team of oxen, similar to the state's highway markers. An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; most are long since retired but some still enjoy their active service on the highways. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing legal trouble... or a hernia. The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout & fonts. The old signs in use in the field are much more colossal - this one is a precise rescaling of the freeway style sign down to a much more manageable size. It comes in several sizes: 15 x 9 inches, 23 x 14 inches, 34 x 21 inches, or 46 x 28 inches. It is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. The 81 inch sign is made on two panels, & will be shipped as two 40 1/2 by 36 inch halves, with mounting holes along the top & bottom edges to accommodate two rails for stability. this assembly & mounting process will be left up to the buyer. (if you would like an even bigger sign made of even more panels, let's talk!) This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality.
