This Modern Hand Crafted Sterling Silver Necklace was fabricated in my studio using the finest materials, & includes some of the finest Battle Mountain Intense Blue turquoise this mine ever produced. The color is indescribable. The Welo Ethiopian Opal is amazing & has Incredible Rainbow fire. It is Fabricated in a contemporary drop design using 18k gold beads, high quality Sterling Silver & .999 fine Silver Bezels. The Rolo chain is sterling silver, made in the USA, & has a link size of 2.5 mm with a lobster clasp. The overall length of the necklace including the setting is approximately 19". The setting measures approximately 1 1/8" high (28.9 mm) by, 3/4" wide (19.9 mm). The total weight including chain is 8.3 grams. The Battle Mountain Turquoise triangle stone measures approximately 16.3 mm, by 11.5 mm, by 11.5 mm. The Welo Ethiopian Opal measures approximately 13.5mm wide, by 11.5mm high. This is truly a custom one of a kind necklace just breathtaking in person. I've tried my best to catch the intense blue in my photographs, but this turquoise is difficult to photograph. I included photos on black & white so that you can get a good overall idea of the color. It is the finest turquoise blue I have ever worked with. It far surpasses sleeping beauty in color & hardness The Blue Gem Turquoise Mine was located in the Copper Basin area southwest of Battle Mountain, Nevada, USA. Production of this turquoise mine started about 1934 & continued until the 1970's. Blue Gem Turquoise is still some of the finest turquoise ever found, & unlike most turquoise mines, (in which the majority mined is chalky & only usable if stabilized) most of the turquoise found there was of gem-quality. There is a distinctive aqua color that some people associate with Blue Gem turquoise, although it produced a great variety of colors, especially when intense blue was combined with deep green in one stone. Very little large material ever came out of the Blue Gem Turquoise Mine, the majority found was small 1mm - 4mm "feeder" veins. Thus the reason for the light backing.
