VERY UNUSUAL & RARE Signed ALPHO Alphonse Mouton Born in 1900 into a family of potters, this prolific potter worked in Saint Vallier in the Drôme region in south east France from the 1930s to 80s. He produced mainly for the tourist market using a series of recognisable glazes in colours ranging from dark blues, greens & beige. He also produced some items for liqueur companies. His early work is reminiscent of the Art Deco period. Pieces are usually numbered & signed ALPHO. Despite much success in the early years of production, changing tastes led to the firm being taken over & eventually closed. It fits in with the French Vallauris nature-themed pottery of the Art Deco period ...this is a very rare charger plate. Ask for more photos if you'd like to see anything else Great condition.
