Vintage c1970s amber colored glass ashtray with ships logo coat of arms: USS Bristol County (LST 1198) shipshape 'n Bristol fashion. Heavier ashtray measures 7.75" in diameter x 1.325" deep. Also has printed on it: CPO MESS. Very good vintage condition. A little history: Vintage USS Bristol County (LST-1198) was the last of the twenty Newport-class tank landing ships of the United States Navy (USN) which replaced the traditional bow door-design tank landing ships (LSTs). The LST was constructed by National Steel & Shipbuilding Company of San Diego, California. Bristol County was launched in 1971 & commissioned into the USN in 1972. Bristol County was assigned to the United States Pacific Fleet & remained in service until 1994 when it was decommissioned.
