The wings started out from chunky cuts of green Carico Lake turquoise & then one by one, each are chiseled & then beautifully beveled, which give each sectional part of the wing, their graceful lines & smooth appearance. The abdomen,eyes & the antennas are designed in a Zuni Pueblo style of inlay, where they are precisely mosaic inlaid with Carico Lake turquoise,Orange Spiny Oyster shell & black Onyx. This technique is truly time consuming & also takes skill when you figure that each piece has to be cut perfectly to ensure the balance & form are just right as they lay in their mosaic channel inlaid form.The completed design lays in their own sterling bezel & is finalized with chiseled leaves & are also hand carved. This sits high on the neck where the viewers eye will quickly go to & follows the neckline beautifully!
