This necklace is made from beautiful purple Charoite. It is has a beautiful pearly luster. Very unusual & unique! Discovered in the 1940s, Charoite was unknown to the outside world until 1978. Its name is derived from the Chara (or Charo) River in eastern Siberia, Russia, the only site in the world where it is found. The word "Chary" in Russian means "magic" or "charms." It is a relatively rare stone. The pendant is 5/8" x 1 1/2" & is set in a sterling silver bezel. It hangs from an 18" 1.5 mm sterling silver chain with a spring-ring clasp.
