Description

You don't see Tank Wagon Invoices from 1925 very often. This Continental Oil Company invoice is dated February 2, 1925 when bulk mobile oil was only 73 cents per pound. This invoice is for 52.7 pounds with a total cost of $38.47. The fuel was delivered to the Hunter Mercantile in Manzanola, Colorado (which ironically is now the home of The Beaty Mercantile). It was signed as The Hunter Auto Co. The Continental Oil & Transportation Company was founded in 1875 by Isaac Elder Blake. It was acquired by Standard Oil Company in 1884 & was spun off from Standard Oil during the Standard Oil divestiture in 1911. I never realized Conoco was short for The Continental Oil Company. The reverse side of the invoice has an advertisement for Conoco Gasoline & Polarine. It measures approximately 8" x 5". The details are written with lead pencil which is still very distinct but it shows the usual fading of a 97 year old piece of paper. The top right corner does have some creasing. We typically ship next day, however please note we cannot be responsible for items delayed or lost by the US Postal service. We include tracking numbers with every shipment so you can track your item easily.
