This oil on canvas painting by Belgian artist, Alex de Andreis depicts a cavalier in blue holding a walking stick. The man wears a velvety blue coat with ruffled collar & large black hat with feathers. His eyes capture you with his gaze & the facial features are painted exquisitely with the large mustache & cleft chin. This is a beautiful example of the artist's work, although as most of his subjects seem to be in red, this gentleman presents a nice contrast. The image size measures approximately 28 1/4"" x 23 1/4" & the overall size including the frame is approximately 33" x 38". The painting has been professionally cleaned, & there have been some repairs on the frame of broken pieces & some re-painting of the gold paint.
