If you don't hit a stud, a wall anchor/toggle to secure the mount is recommended. The bracket is not pre-drilled, as stud placements in homes vary. The shelf slides over the bracket & fastens to the bracket through the top of the shelf. Wood may have natural imperfections or visible lightly filled nail holes. All efforts are made to minimize any wood imperfections to stay aligned with our high quality craftmanship standards.
