This amulet of protection was inspired by Late Kingdom faience charms. It shows the face of Bast, "Goddess of Protection." in this role she became Goddess of the rising sun & holder of the utchat, the all seeing eye of Horus which we see here above her head. She was also the goddess of Motherhood. On her forehead is the Scarab for a symbol of spontaneous creation, resurrection, & transformation.
