Rare double deck playing card set of 2 very famous thoroughbred racehorses in the 1940'sGoogle Lens only found single decks at $55 to $79....used & not in the best condition. This set is still in the original cellophane....never used....and still in the original box. Textured gold colored redi-slip box with chocolate brown wrap. Box is marked, "CHAMPIONS" Exclusive Designs by Reinhold. H. Palenske, who is a renowned graphic artist & painter, born in Chicago, Illinois ( 1884-1954). His work appears in the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, & the Royal Gallery of London, England. Citation (1945-1970) was an American Triple Crown-winning Thoroughbred racehorse who won 16 consecutive races in major stakes race competition. He was the first horse in history to win one million dollars. Busher (1942-1955) was a thoroughbred racing filly who was a champion at ages two & three, & the American Horse of the Year in 1945. She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame in 1964. Used as advertising media for Wheeler General Tire Co. Salt Lake City, UTAH in the 1950's.
