We chose to use Jatoba due to it's strength, wear resistance & beautiful reddish hue. Also known as Brazilian Cherry, it is often used for flooring due to it's incredible hardness - ranking over 2800 on the Janka Hardness Scale (nearly twice the hardness of oak). Over time with exposure to light, Jatoba will darken & take on a rich reddish hue. We felt that the durability & beauty of the wood naturally lent itself to use for our boxes & helped to ensure they would last for a lifetime - or longer!
