Description

This is a fabulous hand painted portrait porcelain plaque by NORM KELLEY. It is a painted portrait copy of a very famous photograph of Evelyn Nesbit (aged 16 in the year 1900) which was taken by Rudolf Eickemeyer, Jr. Evelyn Nesbit is famous because she was the original "Gibson Girl" model for Charles Dana Gibson. The artist, Norm Kelley, is from northern California & is a well known portrait artist. Norm Kelley died in 2004. This portrait is stunning in its detail, coloration, & shading. The eyes, nose, mouth, & teeth are so perfect that she almost looks real enough to step out of the frame. The eyes are so engaging it is easy to get lost staring back at her. This is a true credit to the artistic talents of Mr. Kelley. The portrait plaque is generously sized at 8.00 X 10.00 inches & is signed by the artist. I have collected porcelain portraits of many different sizes, from miniatures upward, for nearly 30 years. This is one of the very best portraits that I have ever seen. Painting on porcelain is incredibly complex, as paints & colors morph & change under high heat. Many many firings are required to achieve the detail that this portrait displays. This will be a fabulous addition to any portrait or art collection. in a wonderful hand painted frame. Dimensions including frame: 9.50 x 11.50 x 1.00 inches Norm Kelley Hand Painted Portrait Of Evelyn Nesbit "Gibson Girl" On Porcelain
