Description
This is a dazzling example of American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut crystal. According to "Identifying American Brilliant Cut Glass" by Bill & Louise Boggess (Revised 4th Edition 2001), a bowl with this oval shape & dimensions was originally intended as an orange bowl. However, you can use it for anything you wish. It could easily be used for any fruit, as a centerpiece, or a salad bowl. I'm not a cut crystal or ABP expert, so I'm not familiar with all the names of the decorative motifs used, but there is a large, glittering hobstar on the bottom, lots of diamonds, branches with leaves, & flowers on the side, & a scalloped, saw tooth top edge. This orange bowl is oblong & measures 11" long x 9-7/8" wide x 3-1/8" deep. This antique bowl is in very good, pre-owned condition with only damage to the top of one of the "teeth." See photos.
