Civil War era civilian sack coat - Size 40 Chest (pit to pit) - 23" Waist - 46" Sleeve length - 24" Shoulders - 19" Overall length - 28" Note: It is important to have 6 - 8 inches of ease (the difference between the person's chest measurement & the jacket chest measurement) to allow room for movement with a shirt & a vest under the jacket. Also note: During the 1800's the sleeves were longer than what we are accustomed to. They would often extend to the knuckles. Jackets were also baggier then modern styles. They allowed for plenty of freedom of movement. This jacket is made with a natural colored cotton/linen blend fabric. The fabric has been pre-washed. There are 4 shell buttons down the front & two patch style pockets. This is a classic "working man's" jacket with no frills. All of the seams have been felled to avoid fraying.
