Description
This Sterling Silver (.925) pendant features Campo del Cielo Meteorite, Gancedo, Doce de Octubre Department, Chaco Province, Argentina. It measures 24.5 x 12.9 x 8.4 mm & weighs 3.75 grams. One of the world's most abundant meteorites, over a hundred tons having been found scattered over a wide region. The first specimen was reported in 1576, but several larger specimens have been recovered during the last few centuries. Campo del Cielo is also somewhat unusual in that in addition to its metallic nickel-iron & a few sulfides, carbides, & phosphides (normal for iron meteorites) it also contains silicate inclusions.
