Black-eyed Susan Rudbeckia Hirta Our Black-eye Susan & Rudbeckia bed grew way past our expectations! While the deer love to chow down on the Rudbeckias, they seemed to leave the Black-eyed Susans alone. The green bundles of leaves start to make way for beautiful 2" round yellow daisy-like flowers. They keep blooming throughout the entire summer. These flowers do not need much care. We have them growing in full sun with little water. They stay less than 2 ft tall so it makes a great addition to a 'cottage' or 'mailbox' garden. Bees, butterflies & other insects love to visit blooming flowers. It is the larval host to the Gorgone Checkerspot & Bordered Patch Butterfly. Birds love to come by to pick at the seed heads in fall. Black-eyed Susan will grow in zones 3-9.
