Antique French Bronze Immaculate Conception Medal This antique mandorla-shaped medal from 1854 features on the obverse side a full height image of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. She stands on an orbis terrarum & from all around her body radiates an aureole of celestial lights. Around the image is the Latin text: SANTA MARIA SINE LABE ORIGINALI CONCEPTA ORA PRO NOBIS. Signed by the artist On the reverse side is a left facing profile of Blessed Pope Pius IX, head of the Catholic Church from 16 June 1846 to 7 February 1878. The medal is cast from bronze & imbued by Mother Nature with a dark velvety patina. Measures 1" wide x about 2 7/8" tall with the top loop.
