Up for sale is a very rare engraving from Bertel Thorvaldsen's 1835 publication "Alexander the Greats Entry Into Babylon". This rare volume contained a handful of impressive engravings of which depicts a man with his family outside the walls of Babylon as Alexander the Great approaches the city. The family is composed of multiple males, female, children & even a sheep & ram. The plate mark measures 9 x 12.5 inches while the sheet measures 10 x 18 inches & its attractive classical gold wood frame measures 18.25 x 26.5 inches. The quality of the engraving is superb showing a tremendous amount of detail in the relief figures. The condition of the print is very good other than the present foxing which could be easily addressed by a paper conservator.
