This is a vintage 1930s, Victorian, hand-carved, turbo-shell souvenir from Watkins Glen, New York USA. Watkins Glen is voted the No. 1 State Park in the country. It is a hand-carved, turbo seashell with a raised-relief, flower & leaf motif. It has a natural, pearlized finish & measures 2 inches deep by 3 inches long with a napkin opening of 1.25 inches in diameter. It is signed in black ink by a quill pen with the words "Watkins Glen, N.Y." The words are barely visible, but still legible. I don't know why a nautical seashell was used for a souvenir from Watkins Glen, NY as it is no where near the ocean, but I guess seashells were popular souvenirs of the time. When you think of it, this piece of Americana is almost 100 years old & it is still in very, good condition. Please be sure before purchasing as this item is NOT returnable.
