This is a one of a kind item. What you see in the photographs is exactly what you will receive. This listing is for a set of four wooden coasters hand-made out of figured black walnut wood. As can be seen in the photographs, the wood has nice figure providing a visually complex & attractive wood grain. Each coaster is 4 inches square & 5/16 of an inch thick. The sides are fully rounded to add a degree of elegance & visual complexity. There is a cork pad on the bottom of each coaster to protect the surface they are on as well as to prevent slipping. The coasters are finished using a multi-step process. First, a coat of boiled linseed oil, which enhances the richness & dark color of the wood, is applied. Subsequently, three coats of gloss general finishes arm-r-seal, which is a wiping varnish (polyurethane), are applied. The gloss arm-r-seal provides a durable finish (hence the name) that will prevent warping or water rings from the beverages placed on them & a high degree of clarity to really bring out the figure of the wood. This multi step process is more labor intensive than simpler finishes (such as a straight oil finish), but I believe the benefits are worth it.
