This wonderful picture collage salutes that great victory by John Stark's Green Mountain Boys over an expeditionary force sent out by the British General Burgoyne to gather supplies during the Saratoga Campaign. The Patriots went into battle carrying what has become known as the Bennington Flag as it was the first time this flag was involved in an American victory. This victory in the Battle of Bennington helped to seal Burgoyne's defeat at the Battle of Saratoga, the turning point of the Revolution. The collage features a picture of the battle itself. John Stark was later selected as one of the two individuals to represent New Hampshire in Statuary Hall in Washington. The collage features the First Day Cover of the stamp issued to honor New Hampshire statehood whose envelope has been dedicated to John Stark. The stamp depicts the state flag of New Hampshire. On the day a stamp is issued, it is only available in the city where it is issued & the Post Office certifies this by canceling the stamp "First Day of Issue." A great collectible for any history buff. Overall, a great collectible for any history buff. The size of this matted picture is 10" x 13" & will fit any 10" x 13" inch frame. (a standard size). I make all these collages by hand. As a history buff as well as a lover of old movies & all types of sports, the key to each picture is the research behind it. Deciding what movies should go with a particular star or what game or series would best reflect a certain sports hero is crucial to a successful collage.
