An amazing silver (plated) trophy! I love the art deco shape, & was surprized to read the engraving was created in 1953! It reads: "THIS CUP WAS PRESENTED TO TWA MADRID, ON MARCH 11, 1953, BY R.S.G.M. Mr. G.R. THORNTON & MR. R.W. MAZZARRINI ON THE OCCASION OF HAVING WON THE DOMESTIC SALES CONTEST" The other side is blank, if you want to add more text for another award. The base could be granite, as the whole thing weighs 7.5 lbs. The cup is 15 " tall, & the base is 1.5" tall. the base also measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches square. & about 7 inches wide at its widest. This would make an amazing vase, if you love flowers, or just a great fireplace mantle piece, which is what we use it for. Two of the base bottom corners are slightly chipped. See photo. I did not polish this up again for photos. I should have, but anyone who photographs metal knows how hard that is to do withiut a real studio. When is is polished it does not have the yellow tinge.
