Russian icon Mother of God of Vladimir. This Russian Orthodox Icon was painted by a modern professional church artist at the Russian town Vladimir(not far from Moscow) that is one of the main & oldest centers of Russian icon painting. Size = 11" X 8 3/4" x 3/4" ( 28 cm X 22 cm X 2 cm) Weight = 812 gr.(1 lb 12 Oz) The icon was painted with egg tempera on a wooden panel covered with levkas (gesso, special priming). Levkas was hand engraved & covered with the leaf silver. This technique served as an imitation of the leaf gold. Pictures are a very important part of the description. Study them carefully.
