Saint Urania, ( Η Αγία Ουρανία ) hand painted Greek Orthodox Byzantine icon, entirely hand made on wood panel with crocus, set in a gold leaf gilded background. It is in accord with the style the tradition & the criteria of the Macedonian school of Agio Oros ( Mount Athos ). Saint Urania is one of the 40 Holy Virgins. They lived during the time of the Roman Emperor Licinius in Adrianople, Thrace. The leaders of the region arrested them as Christians & urged them to worship idols.
