Description

Gayfeather (Liatris Spicata) grows easily & reliably from seeds. Liatris Spicata or commonly called Gayfeather, has dense violet-lavender to rosy purple flower heads, which provide striking vertical form in the perennial wildflower garden. They perform well in average well-drained soils & full sun, yet they also tolerates poor soils & drought. Unbranched stalks bear dense spikes of lavender to purple flowers in July & August on strong stems. The nectar-rich flowers are a favorite with butterflies & hummingbirds. Songbirds love the wildflower seed. Plant seeds in the autumn after the first frost. Gently press seeds down, but don't cover. Water once, then leave them to sprout in the spring. Alternatively, you can cold stratify seeds by placing them on a damp paper towel, fold it over, place them in a recloseable plastic bag then keep in the refrigerator. It is recommended that Liatris seeds be cold stratified for at least 60 days. Start seeds inside 6 weeks before the last frost in spring. No need to cover the seeds with soil, just press down into the soil. Keep seeds moist during germination. Transplant outside after the seedlings have four or five leaves. Deadhead regularly then cut stems down to the ground in winter. Height: 2-4 feet tall (60-120 cm) USDA Zones: 3 - 10 Deer Resistant More information on growing Liatris here: https://growitbuildit.com/how-to-germinate-liatris-seed/ Gayfeather | Liatris Spicata Packet Of 25 Seeds With Free Shipping
