Tiny blue Fluorite octahedrons included inside a clear Quartz crystal. This is one of very few double terminated crystals & is quite large for this material. It also has a huge rainbow. The crystal has a densely packed jumble of inclusions in it - originally over 40 individual fluorites, of which about 10 are still present & have their colour. The rest are now evident only as casts of the original crystals although most retain the shape of the original fluorite. This happens when fluorites close to the surface have been exposed & then dissolved away leaving the casts visible as holes or pits, both inside the crystal & on its surface. There is a small chip on one side but otherwise it is in good condition. The Quartz is surface polished all around to allow the Fluorite to be seen better. These are very rare crystals. It is from Amborompotsy, Ambatofinandrahana, Madagascar It measures 35x18x10mm & weighs 8g Only one single pocket of these has ever been found worldwide & that was in 2004 in Madagascar. The crystals were first presented at the Tucson Show in 2005 where they caused quite a stir. Less than 1000 decent crystals were recovered from this find & maybe another 1-2000 poorer quality opaque, etched or damaged specimens. Virtually none were either large or in perfect condition. We were lucky to get some at the time & have horded them for 15 years. You need magnification to see the structure of the Fluorite crystals as they are only 1-2mm across.
