c.1892 Bronze George Peabody Medal Bedford City VA. to William L Zimmer, for map-making. Mounted in a shadowbox walnut frame with bronze trim, the medal is 2 1/2 inches in diameter x 1/4 of an inch thick. The inscription reads: For Best Maps of Virginia & U.S. / William L Zimmer / Educational Exhibit / Bedford City / 1892. It weighs 126.3 grams on my scale. The frame is 5 1/2 inches square.
