Description

I make this bag in two different sizes. This is the smaller version of this bag. This minimal makeup bag is made with a choice of veg tan leather or cork with gold color inlay. If you would like cork, select cork as the fabric & the color. It is small enough that it will fit in most large purses & small day bags. This bag is approximately 7.5in wide & 5.5in tall the zipper is solid brass & will hold up for years. You can find the larger bag here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1153871150/veg-tan-leather-cosmetic-bag-large?click_key=f6f6653ac0b5aa9fcb473378bed9107deeec2d79%3A1153871150&click_sum=49b2c699&ref=shop_home_active_4&frs=1&crt=1 Why we use veg tan leather. There are mainly two types of tanning methods, "chrome tanning" & "veg tanning." The chrome tanning practice uses different types of acids & chemicals to tan the leather; this method is the fastest, & tanneries are able to produce a lot more hides because of how quickly they can process them. The down side of this method is that these chemicals break down the proteins in the leather, which causes the leather to disintegrate quicker. If you could imagine washing your skin with a harsh chemical like bleach it wouldn't be long before your skin starts to be severely affected. The "veg tanning" process uses more of an old-fashioned approach. The hides are actually soaked in tree bark which cures the leather & preserves all of its proteins. This process does take longer (up to six weeks per hide), which is why these hides are more expensive to buy. It's worth it thoughveg-tan leather is more lasting & wears beautifully. Although both tanning methods are still considered "genuine leather," I firmly believe that veg leather produces higher quality goods that are more environmentally friendly & healthier for use.
