Description

A very surreal exhibition poster with works by Dali & Magritte. The poster was made to promote an exhibition with works by Dalí & Magritte on Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art) called "Surrealism". The artwork on the poster is called The Persistence of Memory (1931) & The Palace of Curtains, III (1928-29). Louisiana is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 & with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums & among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture & landscape. Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of the museum.
