Description
This is such a wonderful & unique ensemble made of a really interesting striped fabric where the black is velvet & the cream is silk. The bodice has a high collar with a fun faux tie style decoration. There are also little epilate-like panels on the shoulders. The rest of the bodice is simple, loose, & fitted at the waist. The bodice is long-sleeved & with little lace detail at the cuffs. There are also cute little embroidered knots at the ¾ point on the sleeves, these little details are also found on the neckline. The bodice laces up the center front having alternating brass hooks & eyes. It is lined in a cream cotton & is fully boned at the waist. The lining is interesting with the center back being a white cotton with insertion lace. There is a waist tape that has the label that I can't quite make it out. It looks like (A,F,L,I) U Camilla Amsterdam & then an address I also can't quite make out. The Jacket has 3 hooks on the inside of the waist that attach to the skirt. The skirt is an A-line silhouette that is simple with a wonderful large leaf shape at the hem. The back of the skirt has 3 leaf shapes total, the one at the center covers the placket at the back. The skirt is unlined & the waistband has the eyes to attach to the skirt. Condition: The dress is in great condition overall with only some flaws to the interior. The collar was originally lined in silk but the silk has almost entirely deteriorated away. The bottom waist of the lining is also loose but these are small things that do not affect the dress overall. The a few flaws to note on the outside. On the right shoulder, one of the epaulet things is missing but is hard to tell because of the stripes & does not expose any of the facings. There is also a color stain on the skirt that is red & is near the hem. Other than those flaws the dress is in great condition & is ready for a new home. The dress has an illusion effect with the stripes & was difficult to photograph, so the photo do not do it justice. Please check the measurements closely for determining fit. I do not give sizes for vintage items as women's sizes are not standardized & a majority of these dresses were homemade or specialty made to fit one person.
