Sterling Hercules Club Pendant (.925 silver). It is based on one of the pendants from the Thetford treasure. The original is cast in gold. These pendants were found throughout the Roman Empire & date from Hellenistic times through to the 4th century AD. Based on the story of Hercules & Omphale, the club may have been regarded as a love token. There are at least 9 examples from Great Britain. This pendant is 1 7/16 inches (36mm) long & approximately 5/16 inches (9mm) in diameter at the bottom. It is cast from solid sterling silver (.925). The Greeks called Hercules Heracles.
