This Hamsa was made with love in my studio! I formed this hamsa using hand building technique. I used flowers texture & pressed the word simcha (Happiness in Hebrew) into the soft clay. After firing it to bisque, I brushed the hamsa in a special technique & returned it for a second firing in my studio kiln. Hamsa is known as a symbol of protection from "Evil Eye" & an emulate bringing prosperity & blessings to the space it is placed in. The word Hamsa refers to the number 5 & the shape to our hand with 5 fingers. Some people call it also the hand of Miriam (Moses sister). The idea is that everything we do will be blessed.
