The True Vine ( Η Άμπελος) hand painted Greek Orthodox Byzantine icon, entirely hand made on wood with crocus, set in a gold leaf gilded background. It is in accord with the style the tradition & the criteria of the Macedonian school of Agio Oros ( Mount Athos ). The True Vine is an allegory or parable given by Jesus in the New Testament. Found in John 15:1-17, it describes Jesus' disciples as branches of himself, who is described as the "true vine", & God the Father the "husbandman".
