Collection of Antique Hunt Pen Nib Boxes, Mailing Box, 3 Nibs & Advertising Insert - 1910s My photos are part of my description - please view them all & read the entire description prior to purchase. Props are not included. This collection of Antique pen nib ephemera is very rare in its entirety. Collectors of calligraphy/penman items will be especially delighted with this find. Like a bit of history plucked from the past, this is a small time capsule featuring C. Howard Hunt Pen Co.'s X-24 Silverine pen nibs from their factory in Camden NJ c 1910 - however, the date could easily go a bit further back as the factory was opened in 1899. Starting with the outer box - this is a special-made mailing box (4" x 3" x 1¼") that neatly holds two Hunt nib boxes. The box has a lid that slides down onto two brads that pierce the top & fold down to secure. The lid of the box is pre-printed with the Hunt Co info & includes a handwritten address to: Miss Ethel S. Crossan c/o New Garden School Dist. Landenberg, PA (order no.) 6358 There are two US postal stamps, 3¢ Lincoln, on the side of the lid & they have been cancelled with 'Camden NJ'. Aside from where the brad prongs pierced the lid - the mailing box is in excellent condition. Within the mailer is two C. Howard Hunt X-24 Silverine nib boxes that originally held one gross (now both empty). These boxes are navy blue with silver writing at 2½" x 1¾" x 1" approx. & both are in very good condition with just a bit of damage that would have occurred from the mailer's brads. Also inside, an advertising insert for Boston Pencil Sharpeners. President Lincoln appears to endorse these sharpeners as he is 'hand-pointing' Tad's pencil in the picture. The advertisement is in excellent condition, double-sided & has colored accents. You will also receive three of the original X-24 Silverine nibs that came in this lot, they will add the perfect touch for a display. (If you wish to add more of the original Silverine nibs, they are under their own listing in my shop & can be purchased in additional sets of four.)
