A very nice example of a 1923 S Monroe Doctrine Centennial silver half dollar with a mintage of 274, 000. The California film industry promoted this issue in conjunction with a motion picture exposition held in June 1923. The obverse has the heads of the presidents James Monroe & John Quincy Adams. The Western Hemisphere is portrayed on the reverse in forms that suggest two female figures.
