Paradiso, Canto 20: The Luminous Souls Sing Like as a lark that in the air expatiates, First singing & then silent with content Of the last sweetness that doth satisfy her, Such seemed to me the image of the imprint Of the eternal pleasure, by whose will Doth everything become the thing it is. - Paul Gustave Doré 1832 - 1883 was a French artist, engraver, illustrator, & sculptor. Doré worked primarily with wood engraving & steel engraving. This original 9" x 13" reprint from Italy is from 1939. It's printed on quality paper & is in lovely condition. It's tanned just a tiny bit to a light ecru color (think vanilla ice cream) & it's blank on the reverse side. 'The Luminous Souls Sing' would be simply fabulous matted in a bright color & framed in either black or gold. Matted, framed, & displayed as a gallery grouping, these fabulous vintage black & white book prints are simply spectacular.
