Arts & Crafts tile framed with a mission style quarter-sawn oak frame. The tile is from Arts & Craftsman Tileworks & is 4" square. It is entitled "Red Winged Blackbird Among The Roses". The tile is finished with a vibrant green border. The Red Winged Blackbird is one of the most studied birds in North America, and, by some accounts, the most prolific! The male has red shoulders & yellow wing bars. (See close up photo above.) The tile has been set in the front face of the frame & is slightly raised, which allows the entire tile to enjoyed. By mounting the tile in the front, it also allows me to individualize each frame to the exact size of the tile. The frame is quarter-sawn oak with a brown mahogany stain from General Finishes & walnut accent pegs. It has been finished with (4) coats of a quality spray lacquer, then lovingly hand buffed to a smooth satiny finish. The back of the frame has been slotted for flush mounting.
