Welcome to The Textile Trunk! please follow us on Instagram @textiletrunk This curtain is absolutely wonderful! This textile is French & dates to circa 1870. This piece is unevenly faded. This was made using the most wonderful medium weight cotton chimney sweep floral fabric with a beautiful rose & lilac flower pattern. There is no backing. The colors are divine!! Wonderful chimney sweep dark brown ground with pink, red, green, cream, khaki or ocher green, & neutral tones. There is a ruffled edge along one side of this lovely curtain, & the bottom is intentionally uneven, sewn on a diagonal. The top is gathered & there are tiny metal curtain rings on the front for hanging. This textile would be stunning hung as is or used for smaller curtains, decorative pillows, scarves, clothing etc. MEASUREMENTS : This piece is a bit of an odd shape but measures about 99 inches long on one side, 88.5 inches long on the other side, 41 inches wide at the gathered top, but 99 inches wide across the bottom. CONDITION : This fabric is in as found, unwashed condition. This piece is unevenly faded, & has faded more dramatically in the middle. There are some small holes in this faded area in the center. There are remnants of old seams on the long selvage edge, & some tiny tears along this old seam. There may be some small pale marks.
