From a local private collection, this is a fun nautical collectible from the Dutch company "Holland - America Line." I believe this was originally a toothpick holder & it measures approximately 2 3/4 inch high with a diameter at the base of approximately 2 inches. While it looks very old, my guess is that it's actually probably from the 1940s or 50s. I've had some other Dutch silver plate items with the same raised motif, but usually it's been in the form of vanity items like brushes & mirrors. I've never had a toothpick holder nor have I had it branded by a ship or cruise company. in good vintage preowned condition, the piece is free from any damage or repair & it's in collectible condition. It is rather tarnished, & does show some surface scratches from wear; because so many people are purists, I decided to sell this exactly like I found it, leaving any polishing up to the next owner if desired.
